Kalis Brotherhood HK was founded in 2008 by Master Andy Chan and Master Jovez Lau. Its core curriculum is from Kalis Ilustrisimo Repeticion Orihinal (KIRO, or simply Kalis Ilustrisimo), the teachings of Antonio ‘Tatang’ Ilustrisimo. (1904-1997) Master Andy Chan and Master Jovez Lau are the only authorized instructor in Hong Kong, Macau and China to teach Kalis Ilustrisimo, and were certified by the late Mang Tony (1946 – 2014) in 2013.

​Born in Bagong, Bantayan in Cebu, Tatang was raised in a family with a long line of fighers. He was no stranger to martial arts. With the rich experience he had early on in his life from different parts of Philipines, Tatang developed a unique fighting style that is vastly different from many other weapon styles. During WW2, Tatang was part of the guerrilla effort and put his skill to use against the Japanese. Throughout his life, he had countless duels and had become one of the most revered masters in FMA. ‘Tatang’ means ‘old man’ in Tagalog, a respected title that his students and others called him by. After his passing in 1997, the torch was passed onto Mang Tony Diego.
